PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container number reading device, a container number reading method and an RFID tag information reading device, capable of securely reading the container number of a container which is in handling, in a container ship mounted with a self-advancing type gantry on-board container crane or a fixed jib crane or a self-advancing type land container crane etc. SOLUTION: A spreader hung by the container crane is provided with the container number reading device reading container numbers stored in RFID tags of containers. Thus, with a container hung up and separated from other containers, the container number of the container which is in handling can be securely read without requiring the visual inspection of cargo work personnel on board.
