PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift device which can be downsized, concerning the shift device of a vehicle equipped with a transmission. SOLUTION: The shift device 1 comprises a magnetic element 21 provided at a lower end of a shift lever 7, a magnet 25 arranged under the magnetic element 21 and forming a magnetic field in a space between the magnet 25 and the magnetic element 21, an MRE element 26 arranged between the magnetic element 12 and the magnet 25 and detecting changes in directions of magnetic flux between the magnetic element 21 and the magnet 25, and an ECU27 detecting a shift position of the shift lever 7 on the basis of a detection result of the MRE element 26.
