APPARATUS FOR FLUID DELIVERY WITH IMPLANTABLE HOUSING OPENABLE FOR PROVIDING ACCESS TO A FLUID CONNECTOR

Fluid delivery apparatus (2,4) is described for the delivery of fluids to regions of the body, especially for delivery to regions of the brain. The apparatus includes a first length of implantable tubing (6) having a first end and a first fluid connector portion (8) attached to the first end of the first length of implantable tubing (6). The first fluid connector portion (8) is releaseably connectable to a complementary second fluid connector portion (18). An implantable housing (36) is also provided for enclosing and protecting the first fluid connector portion (8). The implantable housing (36) is openable to provide access to the first fluid connector portion (8). For example, the housing (36) may have a hinged lid or cover portion. A corresponding method is also described.
