A display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to supply efficiently a reference voltage to a display area through a first voltage applying area and a second voltage applying area. A display device includes an insulating substrate and a reference voltage supplying unit. The insulating substrate has a display area. The reference voltage supplying unit is extended along the circumference of the display area, and supplies a reference voltage to the display area. The reference voltage supplying unit includes a first sub supplying unit(123) which consists of a first metal layer and has a first voltage applying area, a first insulating layer which is formed on the first sub supplying unit, and a second sub supplying unit(146) which consists of a second metal layer on the first insulating layer and has a second voltage applying area. The reference voltage is supplied to the display area through the first voltage applying area and the second voltage applying area.
