A phosphor composition for a plasma display panel, and a plasma display panel using the composition are provided to improve color purity and contrast and to reduce reflective brightness. A phosphor composition comprises a phosphor; 0.01-10 wt% of a pigment which shows the complementary color of the phosphor; and a vehicle. Preferably the vehicle comprises a solvent such as butyl carbitol acetate, terpineol, ethyl carbitol, animal oil, vegetable oil, etc. and a binder comprising a cellulose-based polymer such as ethyl cellulose, nitrocellulose, etc.
