<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication quality control method and apparatus which guarantee a transfer data amount within a certain time even under a communication protocol such as the TCP wherein the data transfer amount is dynamically changed. <P>SOLUTION: In a network for assuring transfer quality of packets transmitted by an application, a Bandwidth Broker 104 receives a quality assurance request, calculates a data transfer rate CIR and a burst size CBS being network resources required for the quality assurance request, determines whether the CIR and the CBS can be ensured, updates settings of an edge router 102 through which an object flow passes when the CIR and the CBS can be ensured, transmits a response of the quality assurance request to a request source, and when the flow whose quality is assured satisfies a range of the traffic requirements comprising the CIR and the CBS ensured in a Diffserv network, no discarding of packets is caused, and the edge router discards packets not meeting the requirements. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
