PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a calcium silicate secondary particle aggregate by which a calcium silicate secondary particle aggregate useful for manufacturing a silica porous aggregate and hydroxyapatite-coated silica porous aggregate can be easily manufactured with high productivity, and to provide the usage of the aggregate. SOLUTION: An amorphous silicate source material is used as a silicate source material, the silicate source material and a lime source material are mixed within a molar ratio CaO/SiO<SB>2</SB>ranging from 0.2 to 0.7 in terms of SiO<SB>2</SB>and CaO, respectively, and the mixture is dispersed in water or an alkali hydroxide solution to prepare an aqueous slurry. The slurry is subjected to hydrothermal reaction at normal pressure at 100°C or lower to obtain a calcium silicate secondary particle aggregate having a low CaO/SiO<SB>2</SB>and containing unreacted silicate. As a calcium silicate secondary particle aggregate can be manufactured at a normal pressure at 100°C or lower by the above method, reduction in the cost and increase in the productivity can be achieved.
