PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network device capable of reducing the rate of trouble due to the suspension of access to a storage means from another device on a network before switching when a network is switched. SOLUTION: The network device having a file sharing function has a main control module 11 and a network module 12. If a switching operation by which a network cable is connected to the cable port of the network device is detected, a determination is made as to whether or not a storage medium is being accessed by another device; while it is accessed, the execution of a switching process is temporarily suspended until the access is over. When it is determined that the access is over, the switching process is started and the network is switched by exclusive control that invalidates a wireless interface while validating a wired interface 15.
