PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power roller unit for toroidal continuously variable transmission, capable of improving the assembling property of a toroidal continuously variable transmission while preventing degradation of power transmission efficiency. SOLUTION: This power roller unit for toroidal continuously variable transmission comprises a trunnion 35, a power roller 39, an outer ring 41 and a thrust bearing 45, the trunnion 35 including a pair of bent wall parts 8 connected by a connecting member 38 at both ends, and the outer circumference of the thrust bearing being retained by a retention part 36a on the inner surface of a support plate part 36 of the trunnion. In this unit, the retention part is composed of a stepped part provided on the inside surface of the support plate part, the outer circumference of the thrust bearing smaller in outer diameter than the outside surface of the outer ring is retained by the stepped part 36a, and the total of distance a between a small end surface 39a of the power roller and the connecting member and distance b between the outside surface 41a of the outer ring and the stepped part is set smaller than thickness c of the thrust bearing.
