PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sock whose toe part and heel part are given high strength and designing property: and to provide a method for producing the sock. SOLUTION: The sock is structured as follows: the toe part and/or the heel part are/is provided with an additional-yarn knitting structure part knitted with foundation yarns together with different kind of additional yarns for reinforcement and designing effect. The additional-yarn knitting structure part is formed as follows: adjacently placing a yarn-supply port for the foundation yarns and a yarn-supply port for the additional yarns in a peripheral direction of the cylinder to supply the yarns when knitting the toe part and/or the heel part while rotating the cylinder of a sock knitting machine in a reciprocated fashion in the FR and RR directions; knitting the foundation yarns in a normal rotation and a reverse rotation while reversely turning its vertical position; and forming the additional-yarn knitting structure part for reinforcement and designing effect to be formed into Hayman patterns.
