PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an x-ray diagnostic instrument for mammography which can permit even a less skilled technician for example to simply acquire a symmetrical diagnostic image on mammae. SOLUTION: The x-ray diagnostic instrument for mammography projects a reference image onto a compression plate used for positioning the mammae in photographing. The instrument also detects a region coming into contact with the detection surface side of a plane detector by a sensor when the mammae are positioned, and displays this with the reference image on a monitor. Especially in photographing the mammae to be photographed later, the mammae photographed just before is displayed as the reference image. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
