PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem, wherein it is troublesome to adjust the difference of audio audible for a user in accordance with an installation environment in an audio reproducing apparatus mounted in a TV receiver or the like. SOLUTION: An equalizer 2 is provided which adjusts the source audio signal from an input terminal IN and generating audio signal for reproduction and in ordinary audio reproducing operation, a speaker 12 generates audio, based on the audio signal for reproduction and sends it out. A reference signal generating circuit 4 is provided which generates a predetermined reference audio signal, in order to perform calibration of the frequency characteristics, according to the installation environment, and a switch circuit 6 is changed over to input the reference audio signal to the speaker 12, in place of the audio signal for reproduction. The speaker 12 sends out audio, corresponding to the reference audio signal, receives a reflection wave thereof and generates a feedback audio signal. By changing over the switch circuit 10, the feedback audio signal is inputted to a control circuit 14 and based on the feedback audio signal, the control circuit 14 automatically adjusts the equalizer 2.
