PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound input device capable of accelerating a noise reduction rate by suppressing an increase in a circuit scale, and a sound input method. SOLUTION: The sound input device comprises: a selector 7 for selecting the input system of a noise canceler microphone 2 or an echo canceler microphone 3; an A/D converter 101 for performing digital conversion of the input sound signal of a sound input microphone 1; and an A/D converter 102 for performing digital conversion of noise signals of an input system selected by the selector 7, and removes noise data selected from the input sound data by a subtractor. A robot system controller 8 selects the echo canceler microphone 3 by the selector when speaking through a loudspeaker for utterance 4, and selects the noise canceler microphone 2 in the other cases.
