The luminance of the daylight and the tungsten light in the surroundings are detected based on the direct and alternating voltage parts of voltage output from the sensor. The adjusted brightness and/or the contrast of display is changed based on the values from a microprocessor using specific algorithm and under consideration of a television monitor or television display specific control data.</p>
