The apparatus has a section (12) scanned by odd number of tools (2) of a rotatable cylinder (1) for controlling a course of motion of the tools, and a cover disk (8) coupled to the rotation of the cylinder. The cover disk is adjustable between a phase position, in which it does not influence the scanning of a cam disc (11) through the tool, and another phase position, in which it periodically permits the scanning of production movement of the section of the cam disc, so that a coupling is engageable and disengageble in a remote-controlled manner through a linear actuating unit.
