PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption when a data reproducing device is operated while keeping reproduction quality when reproduction data is reproduced. SOLUTION: The data reproducing device 200 provided with a hard disk 301 and reproducing reproduction data stored in the hard disk 301, is provided with: a header information obtaining part 302 obtaining header information of reproduction data to be reproduced from the hard disk 301, a bit rate information extracting part 303 extracting information on a bit rate when reproduction data is reproduced from the header information obtained by the header information obtaining part 302, a comparing part 304 comparing the bit rate extracted by the bit rate information extracting part 303 with the predetermined prescribed threshold value, and a drive control part 305 controlling stop of the hard disk 301 and recovering from stop.
