PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect an eye from the lighting of an ultraviolet (UV) lamp in an attachable/detachable ultraviolet device for sterilizing water in a 24-hour bathing water purifying and circulating apparatus by preventing the lighting of the UV lamp or displaying a warning, and preventing the operation of a circulating pump when the UV lamp is not securely fixed to a housing at the time of the replacement of the UV lamp. SOLUTION: The ultraviolet device for sterilizing the water comprises the UV lamp 1, an outer tube 3 covering the UV lamp 1 and cutting off the penetration of bathing water, the housing 5 receiving the UV lamp 1 and the outer tube 3 and permitting the bathing water to pass, and a mechanism holding the outer tube 3 and the UV lamp 1 and being attachable to/detachable from the housing 5. The ultraviolet device also includes a sensor A detecting the fixing of the UV lamp 1 to the housing 5 and a lighting control means 21 constituted so as not to allow the UV lamp 1 to light when the detection signal from the sensor A is not received.
