PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating device for applying a coating liquid such as an adhesive and creamy solder to a substrate, in which reliability of coating work is improved. SOLUTION: A dispenser 2 has movable dispense heads 25A, 25B, so that the coating liquid housed in a syringe 34 to be fit detachably to the dispense head 25 is applied onto the substrate P. The dispenser 2 is provided with: a program storing means 42 for storing a program containing a corresponding relationship between the substrate P and the coating liquid (a kind of the coating liquid) to be applied to the substrate; a bar code reader 38 for reading information (ID) of a bar code 36 stuck to the syringe 34; and a main control means 41 for deciding whether the corresponding relationship between the coating liquid housed in the syringe 34 and the substrate P coincides with the corresponding relationship stored in the program storing means 42 on the basis of the read information and the product list of the syringe 34 stored in a syringe-related information storing means 46 and controlling driving of the dispense heads 25A, 25B to advance the coating work only when the corresponding relationships coincide with each other.
