PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbonaceous material for electrode active substances for further improving the basic characteristics of energy density, or the like of an electric double-layer capacitor and also improving a useful life and stability under a high-temperature environment. SOLUTION: In the carbonaceous material for electrode active substances for the electric double-layer capacitor, the ratio of a rhombic crystal system to a hexagonal system structure existing in a crystal structure is 20% or higher.
