An anode catalyst for fuel cells is provided to exhibit excellent catalytic activity in an alkaline fuel cell. An anode catalyst for fuel cells comprises a carrier including a Cu-Ni alloy, and an active material including an Fe-Ni alloy supported on the carrier. A content of Cu in the carrier is 25-70wt%. A content of Ni in the active material is 30-70wt%. The membrane-electrode assembly(17) for fuel cells has an anode electrode and a cathode electrode which are opposite to each other, and an electrolyte placed between the anode electrode and cathode electrode, wherein the anode electrode contains the anode catalyst. |
