<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon-containing porous glass ceramic which is inexpensively manufactured with a short process, is used for a filter medium for city water, a member for home-use water purifiers, a water-purifying element for fish tanks and fish farms, a purification material or a microorganism carrier for combined septic tanks, a deodorant and a light-weight insulation material and its manufacturing process. <P>SOLUTION: The manufacturing process of the carbon-containing porous glass ceramic comprises obtaining a homogeneous mixture from a raw material consisting of 8%-30% of charcoal powder and 70%-92% of vitreous powder without substantially adding a binder component, melting the mixture by heating it at temperatures ranging from 600°C to 1,050°C for 20 min to 120 min in the absence of air supply and letting it stand cooled to ≤100°C in the absence of air supply. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
