<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the recording quality by carrying out the running OPC (ROPC) without fail in an optical disk drive. <P>SOLUTION: The ROPC is performed by using the remaining areas in the APC operation areas out of the APC areas 100 of the recording unit blocks (RUB) in next-generation optical disks such as blue-ray disks. In ROPC, test data of the 50T longer than the predetermined length for the data to be written is test-written in order to detect the level B of the return light. The APC area 100 consists of 5 wobble periods. The APC is performed in the first 2 wobble periods, and the ROPC is performed in the other 3 wobble periods. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
