PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly respond to rapid change of a required driving force during the Lo-Hi shift of a gear stage of a transmission.

SOLUTION: When shifting a gear stage of a transmission transferring a torque of a motor MG2 to a driving shaft in the Lo-Hi shift while an accelerator is off or an accelerator pedal is slightly stepped on, an engine is operated at or higher than the shift minimum rotation speed Nchg of a rotation speed higher than an idling rotation speed Nidl (S150, S200). Thereby, the engine may quickly output a large torque from the engine and may quickly output large power by means of a ring gear shaft 32a as the driving shaft. Since the rotation speed Nm1 of a motor MG1 may be decreased, the motor MG1 may reduce the power to charge and discharge a battery. As a result, the charge and discharge due to excess electric power of the battery may be suppressed.
