<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semitransmissive liquid crystal display device capable of reducing a light leak and coloration during black display. <P>SOLUTION: The semitransmissive liquid crystal display device 10 has a first λ/2 plate 18 between a first polarizing plate 11 and a counter substrate 12 and a second λ/2 plate 19 between a second polarizing plate 15 and a TFT substrate 14. The angle θ1 between the direction of the optical axis of a liquid crystal layer 13 and the polarizing direction of light incident on the liquid crystal layer 13 is so set that 0<θ1<45°, desirably, 0°≤θ1≤22.5°. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
