<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the estimating accuracy of an exhaust gas component by a model calculation. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust gas estimating device has a catalyst containing gas model 12 estimating a characteristic of gas flowing in a catalyst on the basis of the operation state of an internal combustion engine, a catalyst model 10 estimating the characteristic of gas exhausted from the catalyst on the basis of the characteristic of gas flowing in the catalyst by using an integrated expression of catalytic reaction constructed in advance, and a catalytic deterioration model 14 determining a correction term of correcting the integrated expression on the basis of a heat load applied to the catalyst. The characteristic of gas exhausted from the catalyst can be highly accurately estimated for correcting the integrated expression on the basis of the heat load applied to the catalyst. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
