PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve detection precision in an amount of blur caused by shake and restrain image blur more precisely. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus collects the vertical and horizontal angular velocity data of a digital still camera DC for a prescribed period immediately before the operation of a shutter button. When the shutter button is operated, the apparatus estimates, based on this angular velocity data, angular velocities after the operation of the shutter button by using a Kalman filter, in other words, the vertical and horizontal angular velocities of the digital still camera DC (steps S2, S3). Subsequently, the imaging apparatus selects a higher speed selected from a shutter speed capable of restraining a shake corresponding to the estimated angular velocities or from a shutter speed based on a detected signal of an exposure meter 19, and then controls a shutter so that the shutter may operate at this shutter speed (steps S5 to S7).
