PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic sensor achieving improved adhesion between bias magnet layers and a protection film, which results in excellent environment-proof property, especially excellent temperature change resistance. SOLUTION: The magnetic sensor 10 is so constituted that: a spin-valve magnetoresistance effect element 12 is disposed on a substrate 11; the bias magnet layers 14 consisting of permanent magnet films are connected to both ends of the magnetoresistance effect element 12 respectively; and the protection film 17 which covers the magnetoresistance effect element 12 and upper surfaces 14a of the bias magnet layers 14, is formed. The magnetoresistance effect element 12 is formed in such a way that a lower surfaces 12a of both the ends of the magnetoresistance effect element 12 cover almost whole the regions of the upper surfaces 14a of the bias magnet layers 14. When the magnetoresistance effect element 12 is viewed from a side of the protection film 17 in periphery portions of the bias magnet layers 14, any spacing between a side of both the ends of the magnetoresistance effec element 12 and a corresponding side of the bias magnet layers 14 does not exceed 3μm.
