PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make cylindrical rotating members that rotate in press contact with each other small in size, without deteriorating the required functions, and to uniformize the press-contact force and the width of the press-contact part along the axial direction. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus (U) includes the cleaning roll (CCRy, CCRm, CCRc and CCRk) for cleaning the surface of the electrifying roll (CRy, CRm, CRc and CRk) for uniformly charging the surface of an image carrier (PRy, PRm, PRc and PRk) in press contact with the charging roll (CRy, CRm, CRc and CRk). As compared to the center part of the shaft of the cleaning roll(CCRy, CCRm, CCRc and CCRk), one end part of the cleaning roll shaft is provided on the upstream side, in the rotating direction of the electrifying roll (CRy, CRm, CRc and CRk), and the other end part of the cleaning roll shaft is provided on the downstream side, in the rotating direction of the charging roll (CRy, CRm, CRc and CRk).
