PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer bias control method which maintains satisfactory transferability regardless of environmental variation and duration variation by minimizing the reduction of productivity in an image device with a transfer bias impression means having a constant current power source and a constant voltage power source. SOLUTION: A constant current control is performed by a setting current value before image formation and a detected voltage value V at the time is recorded. Next, constant voltage control is performed by voltage values of two points V-dV, V+dV and detected current values I1, I2 at the time are recorded.
