PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a movable guard rail which has a sufficient load capacity even if an angle which the movable guard rail forms with respect to a predetermined route of vehicles is set to a small value. SOLUTION: The movable guard rail 40, 400 is arranged on a road having a side wall 22, and has a rotating shaft 29 extending almost perpendicularly to the road, at a rear edge thereof, to thereby selectively inhibit or allow passage of vehicles by rotating. The movable guard rail has an abutting portion 44c, 78 arranged at a front edge thereof, for abutting on the side wall when rotated toward the side wall 22, and also has a mechanism 70, 70' for increasing an abutting area when abutting on the side wall.
