PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous hot dip plating apparatus provided with an atmospheric gas seal capable of securely shielding atmospheric gas in a continuous annealing furnace regardless of the running state or the stop state of a steel sheet and also preventing metal vapor from entering into the continuous annealing furnace and the air from entering into a snout part even upon air release time. SOLUTION: In the continuous hot dip meal plating apparatus where the steel strip 2 is annealed in a reducing atmosphere of a continuous annealing furnace 1, and is introduced into a hot dip metal pot 6 via a snout 5, so as to be plated, both the sides of the steel strip 2 on the upstream side or downstream side of a turn down roll 4 are provided with labyrinth seals 3 each having an inert gas introduction tube 15 whose gas with the steel strip 2 is controllable by elevation and blowing out inert gas toward the steel strip. Further, each damper 17 may be provide on the inlet side and/or outlet side of the labyrinth seal 3 with the steel strip 2 sandwiched. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
