PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air pump for a septic tank enabling standardization of a blower and type integration, and a septic tank including this air pump for the septic tank. SOLUTION: The air pump for the septic tank comprises a pump for supplying air by pressure, a flow path switching device for switching the flow path of discharged air from this pump to either of two discharge ports for connecting pipes of aeration and back washing provided on a casing, and a controller for operating this flow path switching device at a predetermined time, wherein the controller has a selection means for selecting and storing the number of flow path switchings (the number of back washings) from the aeration to the back washing and a selection switch for designating the number of flow path switchings, and wherein the validity term of this selection switch is limited within a predetermined time after the electric source of the air pump is introduced.
