<p>The ramjet engine (2), designed for a missile (1) launched in a rocket mode with the ramjet taking over at a given speed, has its combustion chamber air intake ducts (7) closed by shutters (15) with glass plates (18). The plates have protective elastomer coverings, while on the inside of the ducts there are components (17), e.g. operated pyrotechnically, that break the shutter plates when the missile is travelling at a given speed, enabling the ramjet mode of the engine to take over from the rocket mode.</p> |
