PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of managing information appropriately.

SOLUTION: Management information is detected as included in an original image read by a scanner (S305). The number of printable sheets embedded as the management information is compared with the number of printed sheets embedded as the management information similarly, and print is allowed when the latter is less than the former (S309). The number of sheets printed by the copy this time is added to the number of printed sheets of the management information (S311), which becomes a new number of printed sheets and is embedded in the original image as the management information (S313). By the processing, the number of printable sheets can be managed appropriately.
