<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infusion set assembly relating to a low profile infusion set used for intermittent or continuous delivery of medication, such as insulin to a patient. <P>SOLUTION: The infusion set assembly 1 comprises a cannula housing 15 having a base surface and a septum housing 16 adapted to be pivotally attached to the cannula housing for movement between a position where an axis thereof is substantially perpendicular to the base surface and a position where the axis is substantially parallel to the base surface. The infusion set assembly further comprises an insertion needle assembly 38 including an insertion needle and a cannula 2 supported by the needle assembly with a tip of the insertion needle extending from a distal end of the cannula. An insertion guide housing 68 is configured to support the insertion needle assembly with the needle substantially perpendicular to the base surface and adapted for movement between a position where the needle tip and the cannula distal end are spaced from the base surface and a position where the needle tip and the cannula distal end extend beyond the base surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
