PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electric double layer capacitor capable of maintaining an electrolytic solution impregnated in a separator at a constant quantity while increasing electrostatic capacity, and capable of avoiding an increase in an electric resistance of the separator and leakage of the electrolytic solution to the outside. SOLUTION: A cell portion 5 has a positive electrode 6 and a negative electrode 7 oppose each other with the porous separator 10 impregnated with the electrolytic capacitor sandwiched, and expanding when charged and shrinking when discharged. A porous electrolytic solution reservoir 4 provided to contact the separator 10 and impregnatable with the electrolytic solution has cushion performance.
