PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electric double layer capacitor capable of maintaining an electrolytic solution impregnated in a separator at a constant quantity while increasing electrostatic capacity, and capable of avoiding an increase in an electric resistance of the separator and leakage of the electrolytic solution to the outside. SOLUTION: A cell portion 5 has positive electrodes 6 and negative electrodes 7 arranged with the porous separator 10 impregnated with the electrolytic capacitor sandwiched, and expanding when charged and shrinking when discharged; a positive electrode collector plates 8 and a negative electrode collector plates 9 respectively connected to the electrodes 6 and 7 from the outside. Porous electrolytic solution reservoirs 4a impregnatable with the electrolytic solution provided so as to contact the separator 10 are each arranged to oppose a region not contacting the positive electrode 6 of a main surface connected to the positive electrode 6 in the electric positive collector plate 8, without being sandwiched by the electrodes 6 and 7.
