PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent current switch system in which a balance is achieved between a high switching speed and a low resistance value during turn-on. SOLUTION: A bypass switch 30 comprising a MOS-FET that receives an instruction signal to perform ON/OFF operations is connected to a thermal permanent current switch 20 in parallel. Then, the thermal permanent current switch 20 and bypass switch 30 are on/off controlled by instruction signals outputted from a control device 60 to the thermal permanent current switch 20 and bypass switch 30. The switching speed of the MOS-FET is higher than that of the thermal permanent current switch 20, and the resistance value of the MOS-FET drops when the MOS-FET is parallelized or cooled. Therefore, when the thermal permanent current switch 20 and bypass switch 30 are turned on, the current flowing in a superconducting coil 10 flows in the bypass switch 30 during the time until the resistance value of the thermal permanent current switch 20 turns to be zero, thus making the switching speed higher.
