PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for a mobile station selectably connectable with a communication network in communication connection. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an apparatus (24) for a mobile station (10) selectably connectable with a communication network in communication connection, comprising: a signal performance metric identifier (28) adapted to receive an indication of a receive signal transmitted by the communication network during at least a first time period; a rate-of-change calculator (42) adapted to receive a representation of the indication received by the signal performance metric identifier (28); an average calculator (34) adapted to receive a value representing the indication received by the signal performance metric identifier (28); and a connector authorizer (38) adapted to receive an indication of calculations made by the rate-of-change calculator (42) and the average calculator (34).
