PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a holding property of a thin digital camera, for which portability is prioritized. SOLUTION: A camera body 1 is formed from front and rear faces extending in the width direction and a height direction, a window part 7, through which object light flux is incident is provided on the front face of the camera body 1; a display monitor 15 for displaying a photographic image is disposed on the rear face; and operating members 9, 10 to be operated during photographing are disposed on the upper face. At the same time, a lens barrel 41 supporting a photographic optical system for guiding the object light flux incident from the window part 7, to an imaging device is housed within the camera body, a substrate 44, a plate-like battery 45 and a memory card 46 are housed approximately, in parallel with the display monitor 15, and maximum thickness of the camera body 1 is specified from the size of the lens barrel 41. Grip parts 2b, 3a for gripping the camera body 1 are formed, respectively on the front and rear faces of a side terminal portion of the camera body 1, and between these grip parts, the front face side grip part 2b is formed into a recessed shape.
