PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for purifying and producing aniline by which the high-quality aniline can be obtained without bringing the treatment of high-boiling point waste oil and the corrosion of a distillation column into problems. SOLUTION: The method for purifying the aniline comprises repeating twice or more the contact treatment comprising mixing of a crude aniline obtained by hydrogenation reaction of nitrobenzene with an aqueous alkali solution, and oil-water separation of the mixture, and distilling the obtained oil phase to obtain the aniline. The method for producing the aniline comprises a step for obtaining the crude aniline by hydrogenating the nitrobenzene, and a step for carrying out the purification method.
