PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-in-oil type emulsion sunscreen cosmetic that sufficiently exhibits an excellent ultraviolet light screening effect and excellent prevention of discoloration with time and control stability. SOLUTION: The water-in-oil type emulsion sunscreen cosmetic comprises (a) 1-30 mass% of hydrophobilized titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide, (b) 0.1-10 mass% of phenylbenzimidazole sulfonic acid, (c)≥50 mass% based on the component (b) of triethanolamine, (d) 0.1-10 mass% of trimethylsiloxysilicic acid and optionally (e) 0.01-20 mass% of a silicone-based surfactant.
