A security pattern formed by printing with special effect ink is provided to form regions with different optical variable characteristics printed by the same ink. An image has first and second printed regions(2,3) printed by the same ink composition and provided with flakes aligned by a magnetic field. At least one of the printed regions has optical variable characteristic and partially surrounds the other region. The second printed region comprises thin parallel lines. The first printed region has lines wider than the lines printed on the second printed region. The area density of the ink of the lines included in a first group comprising the wide lines is higher than that of the lines included in a second group comprising narrow lines. The image is shown on the first region and hidden in the second region in tilting or rotating, by aligning particle or flakes included in the ink by a magnetic field. |
