APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR HEATING INFRARED-INITIATED SPLICE SEAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared-initiated splice seal heating apparatus capable of preventing a splice seal from being damaged even when work is executed in a high load cycle and of preventing a mounting window from becoming zero; and to provide its heating method.

SOLUTION: This infrared-initiated splice seal heating apparatus 20 includes; a heating area 21 defined by one or more structural members 22 and 23 and having one or more lamps 31 being infrared heat energy sources; a splice support body related to the apparatus for supporting the infrared-initiated splice seal in the heating area; and one or more cooling devices 34 and 36 such as a fan for cooling either or both of the one or more structural components and the splice support body. In using the apparatus, the splice seal supported on the splice support body receives radiant heat from the one or more infrared heating energy sources.
