The power input by the linear compressor is determined to judge if the linear compressor is in an overloaded condition. The amplitude of motion of the linear compressor is also evaluated to determine the overloaded condition. The amplitude of motion of the linear compressor is reduced if the overloaded condition is determined. An independent claim is included for a controller for a linear compressor.
