Adaptation of virtual and physical network interfaces

The method involves configuring a virtual interface (120) on a communication node (100) e.g. mobile router. The virtual interface is accessed by applications executed on the node. An identifier identifying the communication node is generated. The identifier is stored in an identifier table (910). The communication node for network interfaces (130-133) is checked by the module. A network interface e.g. Ethernet interface, table storing available network interfaces is set up. The network interfaces is connected to the virtual interface based on the information stored in the interface table. An independent claim is also included for a system comprising a virtual interface.
