The invention relates to a housing for a component of an exhaust system, comprising a first (12) and a second half-shell which are connected together, at least sectionally, by means of an edge section (20), and an opening (18) for a pipe (22) which is connected to the housing (10). The invention is characterised in that the edge section (20) runs into the opening (18) and the width of the edge section (20) is reduced towards the opening (18). The invention also relates to a housing of said type comprising a pipe (22) which is applied thereto and which is welded to the housing (10) by means of a welding seam (24). The width of the edge section (20) in the region of the opening (18) is, at maximum, equal to the height of the welding seam (24). |
