A transparent sheet-form detergent obtained by preparing a composition comprising (a) a water-soluble polymer having the ability to form a film, (b) a fatty acid alkali salt, and (c) a compound represented by the following general formula (I): (I) (wherein R is C4-34 alkyl or C4-34 alkenyl; at least one of X1 and X 2 is-CH2COOM and the remainder is hydrogen; and M is an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, ammonium, lower alkanolamine cation, lower alkylamine cation, or basic amino acid cation), evenly mixing and dissolving these ingredients, and forming a film from the solution when the ratio of expansion due to the bubbles included during the mixing and dissolution [(volume after the mixing and dissolution)/(volume before the mixing and dissolution)] is 1.6 or less. The transparent sheet-form detergent is highly transparent, can be thin, has satisfactory solubility, lathers well, and leaves no residues. |
