Provided are a magnetic nanocomposite which is stable in an aqueous solution and shows excellent magnetic characteristic by covering nanoparticles with an amphiphilic compound, and a contrast agent composition comprising the same. The magnetic nanocomposite is characterized in that a magnetic nanoparticle is covered with an amphiphilic compound having at least one hydrophobic domain and at least one hydrophilic domain. The magnetic nanoparticle has a diameter of 1-1,000 nm and is a metal, a magnetic material, or a magnetic alloy. The hydrophobic domain is a saturated or unsaturated fatty acid, or a hydrophobic polymer, and the hydrophilic domain is a biodegradable polymer. The contrast agent composition comprises the magnetic nanocomposite and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
