[PROBLEMS] To provide a charge control agent, which has a practical level of negative charge imparting properties, is colorless and a light color and can be used in a color toner, can realize good stability against an environmental change of electrostatic charges generated by electrification of resin powder such as toner, has excellent storage stability and durability, and has high safety, and a method for charge control of resin powder using the charge control agent, and a toner. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A charge control agent comprising a compound represented by the following formula as an active component: formula (1) wherein X: an oxygen atom or N-H; and R1 to R4: a hydrogen atom, a carboxyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aminocarbonyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aminocarbonylmethyl group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, an alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group, or a group that, together with any of other group selected from R1 to R4, forms a substituted or unsubstituted saturated or unsaturated ring, and a method for charge control of resin powder using the charge control agent, and a toner.
